JoAnn was born in Idalou, TX to Frank and Edna Eddleman on November 6th, 1935. She was the oldest of 4 siblings, growing up in a godly home. She met the love of her life, Lee Roy Templeton, and they married on September 9th, 1955. They were married for a wonderful 50 years before his passing. She was a homemaker and they were blessed with three children, Robert (Robby), Bennet (Benny) and Judy. JoAnn loved her family and was very close to her siblings. The family regularly met to enjoy food, games and fellowship. Along with her sister, she was a member of the Sisters Group at Sunset church of Christ. One of her favorite annual events was the Children’s Home of Lubbock’s Fall Festival and Silent Auction. She also loved entertaining her kids and grandkids at Halloween, telling stories, playing games, and cooking “ghoulish” deserts. She was a Christian example to everyone, kind hearted, a sweet spirit, and always lived life with a servant attitude.
JoAnn was very artistic, creating scrapbooks of special trips, husband’s retirement, her kid’s activities, and get-well scrapbooks for hospitalized people. She loved sharing her Holy Land scrapbook with everyone. While at Raider Ranch and Legacy, all residents looked forward to the colorfully decorated and encouraging “special” card on their birthdays. She handmade all her bible class characters for teaching bible stories in class.
She lived all her life for Jesus Christ, daily preparing for her last event on earth. She taught bible class for over 60 years, including over 30 years teaching the Special Needs Adult class at Greenlawn church of Christ. A faithful church goer, even at Raider Ranch and Legacy, leading a group of ladies in Sunday church & communion, always speaking about how beautiful heaven will be. She was active in supporting World Bible School for over 40 years, supporting a missionary in Zimbabwe, and helping with the bible lessons for the students there.
At Raider Ranch and Legacy, she was the “Welcome Lady” making new residents feel welcome at their new home. Introducing them to their new surroundings, helping with puzzles and playing Chicken Foot, even showing them around and how to get into their apartment. The Legacy staff and residents will greatly miss JoAnn’s smile, helpful nature, and Christian servanthood.
JoAnn is survived by her children: Robby & Connie Templeton, Benny & Wanda Templeton, and Judy & James Martin, 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Don (Charlene) Eddleman, Reg (Sharon) Eddleman, and Sherry (Jerry) Coombes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Templeton, and parents Frank & Edna Eddleman.
