He moved to Texas in the Lubbock area in 1935, and attended school in Hale Center. Edmon honorably served in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Edmon married Maxine Ray in 1952, who preceded him in death along with his parents; infant son and daughter; a brother, Kenneth Dixon; sister, Margaret Scott; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
He is survived by his daughters, Dona Dixon and husband, James, Edwona Walcher; son, Keith Dixon and wife, Darla; brothers, Carl Dixon and wife, Mary Ann, and Jerry Dixon; sisters: Wanda Cannon, Wynona Berkley and husband, Bob, Linda Bayne; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park.
