Earnest Rhea Penny, age 87, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. He was born in Linden, Texas on December 5, 1935 to Virgil and Thelma Penny. Everyone who knew him called him Rhea.
Earnest worked for the Mrs. Baird Bakery as a supervisor for over 41 years. He had a passion for coin collecting, traveling, fishing, baking and gardening.
He is survived by his daughter Tammie Skelton Walls; and his step children; Lisa Phillip and Steve Phillips and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Peggy Burch and children Michael Penny and Terrie Penny.

A visitation for Earnest will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79407. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
