Doug Pevey, 71, went to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, September 21, 2013, surrounded by his loving family in his home. Services for Doug will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven.
Doug was born on April 10, 1942 in Cash, Texas to Buck and Elsie Pevey. He married the love of his life, the former Melanie Ray of Cotton Center, in Crosbyton, Texas on August 1, 1966. He was a professional truck driver with millions of miles logged during his truck driving career.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; four brothers, Junior, Elmer, Charles and Jim; and six sisters, Mildred, Sissy, Thelma, Dolly, Merle Jeanne, and Judy.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie; four sons, Johnny Terry of Mansfield, Jeff and Laurie Terry of Lubbock, Alan and Jeanne Terry of Slaton, and Tuter and Cherisa Pevey of Lubbock; one daughter, Brandi Hockenberry and her fiancé Steve Jones; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He also has two surviving brothers, Buddy and Anja Pevey of Central, South Carolina, and Butch and Carol Pevey of Lubbock, and a multitude of loving nieces and nephews. His four sons and two of his grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorials are suggested to Crownpoint Hospice, The Wounded Warriors, or Meals on Wheels.
