On August 14, 2021, Dora Elnora Alderson, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was the second daughter of A.O. and Florence Williams of Denver City, Texas. Dora graduated from high school in 1940, and two years later married E. B. Alderson on November 20, 1942. E.B passed away in 2000 after 58 years of marriage.
Dora raised four daughters until they were all in school. She was active in PTA at Wheelock Elementary and worked at Hemphill Wells from 1960 to 1969. The family attended First Methodist Church where she helped start the Mother’s Day Out and Wednesday night childcare programs. Dora and her sister Marie Milliken started Lubbock Meals on Wheels. Dora and E.B. delivered meals up until they moved to Lamesa in 1997. They both loved helping with LMOW.
Dora was preceded in death by husband E.B., one daughter and one great grandson, along with her parents, and five brothers, and one sister. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Troy) Vinson of Ft Worth; Connie (Jimmy Freeman) Campbell of Lamesa; and Vicki (Cliff) Brown of Lubbock; and one sister, Edith (Lee) Kidd of Denver City, Texas. She was blessed with five grand kids, numerous great grandkids, and great-great-grand kids.
Graveside services will be held Monday, August 23, 2021, at 11:00am Resthaven Funeral Home with Executive Pastor of Adults Ken Carter of Southcrest Baptist Church officiating. There will be a short visitation from 10:00 to 10:45. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Vinson, Cliff Brown, Jimmy Freeman, and Lee Kidd.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Remington Park, and Hospice of the South Plains for their fine care.
