He was born May 6th 1946 to T. Donald and Mary Cunningham in Lubbock, TX. As a young man, Don worked with his father in the auto-salvage business. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1969 with a BA in Business Administration. After graduating, he went to work for Levi Strauss as an engineer. He then became self-employed as an independent dealer working with Snap-On Tools. He was a successful salesman, winning numerous awards during his 30 plus years with the company. He was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.
Don is preceded in death by his father, T. Donald Cunningham and son, Scott Cunningham. Don is survived by: wife-Joyce Cunningham; mother-Mary Cunningham; daughters-Stephanie Thurston and Rosalind Brown; sister Teresa Dailey and husband Mike; brother-Alan Cunningham and wife Stefani; sister in law-Sylvia Worton and husband Larry; grandchildren- Mitchell Cunningham, Rudy-Sue Thurston and Grace Thurston; as well as many nieces and nephews. Much love and appreciation for Nancy Rocha devoted caregiver and friend.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Ryan Smallwood officiating. A visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 20201 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers any donations directed to Aldersgate United Methodist Church Mission Fund, Lubbock Meals on Wheels, or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Serving as pallbearers are Alan Cunningham, David Dailey, Mike Dailey , Wes Cunningham, Kalab McInnes, Kent Forester and Mitchell Cunningham.
