On September 25, 2011 Dolores M. Coffee passed from this life into the loving hands of her Lord and Savior and a certain reunion with her sweetheart Marv of 66 years. Services will be held at First United Methodist chapel on Wednesday, September 28th at 2:00pm, with burial to follow in Salem, Ohio.
Dolores was born May 6, 1924 in Sioux City Iowa where she grew up and later married Marv on June 16, 1945. As a bit of a spunky “tomboy” in her youth she was athletically active including her favorite sport, softball, in addition to developing a strong sense of family helping at home with her younger siblings. She later shed the tomboy part to become a real lady…but never lost her spunky spirit. No doubt these roots contributed to a life evidenced by service and caring for others, as well as being an excellent cook. Dolores took great pride and enjoyment from her life membership in, Beta Sigma Phi, XI Iota Alpha service sorority.
Dolores’s career reflected her enthusiasm for continuous learning, and personal interaction in the university environment. She worked in the College of Education at the University of Toledo and served in various roles at Texas Tech University, eventually retiring from the International Center for Textile Research and Development in 1989.
She spent her retirement years as she did life; devoted to her Lord, family, and friends; and always Marv’s co-pilot in life. When a stroke limited her speech, mobility and independence going on 9 years ago; Dolores and the rest of the family were blessed with the presence of a care angel, Diane Kacures who was dedicated to her physical and emotional well-being. They became best friends and regarded each other with the pure love of a mother and a daughter.
Dolores (Dee) was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marv, son Steven Coffee parents William and Mabel Biegler, twin sister Dorothy Mae, and Brother Bob Biegler. She will be deeply missed by son David (Georgia) of Streetsboro, Ohio; daughter Diane (John) Foard of Lubbock, grandchildren Melissa (Pete) Dials of Medina, Ohio; Kristina (Brad) Becker of Bellevue, WA., Brad Coffee of Parma, OH; Shawn White and Erin Foard, both of Lubbock. Also surviving are 4 great-grandchildren Tuesday and Christian Becker of Bellevue, WA., Drake and Nathan White of Lubbock; sister Marge Anderson and brother Don Biegler, both of St.Paul, MN., brother Richard Biegler of Spencer, IA.; and many nieces, nephews and friends – all were greatly loved by Dolores.
