David Leonard Wragg, 32, died November 3, 2012, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at First Christian Church, Lubbock, Texas. Family visitation will be held Tuesday, November 6, from 5-6 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
David was born February 24, 1980, in Lubbock. He married Katie Alkeda Xhebraj on April 11, 2003, in New York City. He graduated from Texas Tech University in May 2008. Since then, he has taught art at Wheatley and Overton Elementary Schools.
David always strived to make a difference in the lives of his students. He wanted to teach them art, but more important, he wanted to teach them to be good people and to love life. He was a role model and father-figure to many.
David lived his brief life to the utmost. He loved hunting, bowling, golfing, classic cars, the Rangers and the Cowboys (most times). He was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He was his Dad’s best friend, and together they participated in many car shows and won many trophies. David was always first to step up any time his friends asked for help. He loved all people and, as his wife always says, “Everybody likes David.”
His love of life, even during his three-year battle with cancer, has been an inspiration to many. He stayed strong for his family and friends every day to the very end.
David is survived by his wife Katie and daughter Alexis of Lubbock; parents Mike and Marilyn Wragg of Lubbock; and sister Carolyn Russell of San Diego. He is also survived by beloved nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and mother-in-law Katjusha Xhebraj.
The family expresses appreciation for everyone’s outpouring of prayers and support. Memorial donations are suggested to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or a favorite charity. Condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
