David was born on March 15, 1933 in Thrall, TX to David and Aurora Lara. They moved to Lubbock in 1951. David married the love of his life, Ernestine on March 17, 1967. He began his career by working for Jenco Nursery, Clark Equipment, Scott Manufacturing, Johnson Manufacturing and finally 7 Oaks Tree Farm where he was a manager for 20 years. He retired in 2005.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a hard worker who never complained. Instead, he was always willing to help those in need. He showed compassion to everyone and loved to tell jokes. His passion was being outdoors working in his garden. He loved music and played the guitar, accordion, and piano, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents David and Aurora Lara; brothers, Paul and Esteban Lara; sisters, Juana Betz, Martha DelaRosa and Isidra Olivarez.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ernestine; daughter Yolanda Elias (Jay); sons, David S. Lara III (Maria), Ernest Lara (Lydia); sisters, Ester Gomez, Abigail Ortiz, Elizabeth Arredondo, and Consuelo Lara all of Lubbock; brothers, Noe Lara of Las Lunas, NM, Danny Lara and Augustine Lara of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Kristen, David IV, Lara, Patrick, Ariana, Haley, Steve Jr., Justin and Alyssa; and great-grandchildren, Absidy, Mia, Jo’Nathan, Masen and Adrielle.
