David graduated from New Deal High School in 1974 and from Texas Tech in 1979 with a Bachelor’s in Media Communication and Accounting. He then worked for the Naval Base JRB in Fort Worth for 30 years. He started as an accountant and ultimately retired helping soldiers to be able to return to civilian life.
David loved watching sports with his grandparents, especially the NFL. They were partial to the Dallas Cowboys, but they enjoyed watching all football games together. Years ago, he got to meet and say hi to Emmett Smith at a restaurant with his sister. After his grandparents passed, he still enjoyed watching football games, especially Texas Tech and the Cowboys.
After their mom passed David and his sister, Debra, began to travel. “Life is too short”, he said. They travelled all over. He loved going to mountain regions, like in Oregon and Washington. He enjoyed being outside and loved nature. In his 50’s he started living a healthier lifestyle, eating better and taking care of himself.
David loved the Lord. God was a very important part of his life; he was a loyal and loving Christian. He visited many churches before settling down at Crossroads Christian Church in Mansfield, Texas.
David was a very upfront, loyal and kind person. He enjoyed spending time with and helping his sister. He loved cats and enjoyed rescuing them from animal shelters.
He is survived by his loving sister, Debra (Jerry) Farris; his uncle, Jimmy Farris; aunt, Mildred Teal; and many cousins.
