Clinton Buck Jones, 84, of Lubbock, passed away on May 31, 2019. He was born in Memphis, Texas on July 26, 1934. He graduated from Memphis High School. He served in the US Navy for four years in the midst of his college years, with tours in Germany and the Panama Canal Zone. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Hardin Simmons University and later a Master’s Degree in Education from Eastern New Mexico University.
He married Jimmie Sue Pannell on June 14, 1958. Buck was a math teacher in the Hobbs (NM) Municipal Schools for 30 years, teaching algebra and geometry. After retirement, Buck and Jimmie Sue moved to Lubbock in 2000. He was an active member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. In addition to being a teacher, Buck was a skilled builder and remodeler. He also enjoyed model-making, woodworking, and gardening.
Buck is survived by his wife, Jimmie Sue Jones, of Lubbock; son Chris Jones and wife Andrea of Sanger, TX and daughter Kerri Roberson and husband Kevin of Lubbock; grandchildren Leah Jones, Meredith Jones, Phillip Jones, Erin Roberson, and Holly Roberson; and brother Winston Jones.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Sunday, June 2 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, June 3, at Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock.
