

He was born in Hubbard TX on December 28, 1939, to Jack and Christine Everett. He grew up in Wink, TX. He earned a football scholarship to the University of Houston and then transferred to Hardin-Simmons University, where he was a 4 year letterman for the Cowboys. He married Linda Mooty Everett on June 6, 1959. He served as an officer in the US Army and was stationed at Ft Eustis, VA. He began his career in coaching in 1965 in Colorado City, TX. He loved the profession and served his students and athletes well. In 1971 he embarked on a new career in the Life Insurance business, with American Amicable ( now known as American General) and moved the family to Austin, TX for 9 months before being offered a position at the home office in Waco, TX. He served there until 1977, when he was awarded his own agency in Lubbock, TX. The family made Lubbock their home. He and his wife, Linda, were well-traveled, as he earned many trips to amazing destinations all over the world, due to his hard work with American General. He retired in 2012. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. He grew beautiful roses and pecan trees and they were his passion. He spent hours on end shelling pecans and sharing them with family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father to 3 daughters, a fun PawPaw to 7 grandchildren and great grandfather to 9.
Buddy was preceded in death by parents Jack and Christine Everett, brother David Everett, sisters Elizabeth Peebler and Margie David, and his beloved wife Linda Everett.
Buddy is survived by daughters Lisa Coleman and husband,Steve, of Abilene, TX, Crista Everett of Lubbock, TX and Angie Melton of Overland Park, KS, grandsons Chad Coleman, Brad Coleman and wife Lori, Andy VanCleave and wife Brooke, Aaron VanCleave, Kaeden Melton, Karsen Melton and granddaughter Stephanie Beyer and husband Dennis and great grandchildren Tucker, Taylor and Taytum Coleman, Rylee, Graysen, Prestyn and Hayden VanCleave and Sophie and Blakely Beyer.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug 7, from 7-8:30 at Resthaven Funeral
Home in Lubbock. There will be a private family memorial service.
The family wishes to thank the Lyndale Memory Care staff, of Abilene, for loving on and Caring for Buddy in his time there- special thanks to Keisha, KK, Kay and Loni. We would also like to thank the amazing staff of Hendrick Hospice Inpatient Facility, of Abilene, for their God-serving and patient and family honoring care that we all received in his short time there.
