Brent was born on January 28, 1975, in Lubbock, Texas. He grew up in Bedford, Texas, and graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas, in 1993. In August of 1993, Brent moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University. While at Tech, he was actively involved in student media, working at the University Daily newspaper as a sports reporter and editor.
He graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1997, and began a career in sports that led him to the Big 12 office in Dallas and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. He returned to Lubbock in 2003 and began working in marketing at the Texas Tech Alumni Association. He was passionate about his alma mater and loved working for the Alumni Association.
Brent was a history buff and lover of all things Texas Tech, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Rangers. He could quote sports stats on a whim and associate what he was doing during any given Dallas Cowboys game during his life. He was proud of those abilities, and his family and friends loved that about him.
Brent married Aleesa Miller on July 11, 1998, in Plainview, Texas. He was a devoted husband and father who supported his wife and children in all of their endeavors.
Brent is survived by his wife, Aleesa, and three children, son Cooper and daughters Courtney and Campbell, all of Lubbock; his parents, Bob and Gwynne Ross of Flower Mound, Texas; his father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Melody Miller of Plainview, Texas; his brother- and sister-in-law, Jerry and Amy Estrada of Brownfield, Texas, and nephews Nicholas and Reese Estrada and niece Mylee Estrada, also of Brownfield, Texas. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Brent was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Ross, and grandparents Herman and Floy Ross and Howard and Audra Montgomery.
