Bonnie lived in multiple locations in Oklahoma, graduating from Delhi High School, Delhi, OK and attended Sayre Jr. College. Bonnie and J.V. Adcox met at Delhi and married August 1, 1948. They lived in Weatherford, OK., where J.V. graduated from Pharmacy School and Bonnie was a bookkeeper for Anthony’s. Following J.V.’s graduation in 1950, they moved to Texas and lived in Plainview, Amherst and Muleshoe, before settling in Lubbock in 1959.
Bonnie was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class for 58 years and served on multiple committees.
Bonnie was also Assistant Leader for her children’s Camp Fire, Indian Guides and Cub Scouts and a member of PTA from 1959 to 1983. She did the accounting for the family business, Adcox Pharmacy. Bonnie loved yardwork, feeding her turtles and enjoyed the fall when she could work at the fair in the Women’s Building and Oakwood Pie Booth. Bonnie loved Red Raider Basketball.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, J.V. Adcox.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki (John) Jobe of Lubbock, Peggy (Gregg) Maxwell of Grapevine, TX and Chuck (Kathy) Adcox of Magnolia, TX.; grandchildren, Emie (Marcus) Young of Lubbock, Libbie Jobe of Lubbock, Charlie Maxwell of Irvine CA., Jenny (Kirby) Busker of Austin, Kristen and Colton Adcox of Magnolia, Geoff Maxwell & family of Anaheim, CA; great-grandchild Channing Grace Young of Lubbock; sister-in-law Jerry Sue (Dwain) Ingram of Hurst, TX and nephews and nieces, David, Paul, Steve, Tim and Valerie and their families.
Mother, Mama, and Aunt Bonnie, shared her great wisdom and life lessons with all through her story telling. Her careful budgeting and sacrifices ensured that her children could further their education and support themselves.
The family would like to thank all of Bonnie’s caregivers, especially Karla Cynthia and Brianna.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Oakwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Lindley officiating.
Services are under the personal direction of the professionals at Resthaven Funeral Home.
