Barbara Bowman Gray, age 90, passed away peacefully after a short illness in the early hours of September 5, 2023. She was born in Levelland, Texas on October 31, 1932 to Ernest and Gladys Bowman. She married her high school sweetheart, Royce Gray, on August 18, 1950, who preceded her in death.
Barbara lived well and loved well. One could not have asked for a better mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, or friend. As anyone who knew her could tell you, there was never a day in her nearly 91 years of life that Barbara was not thinking about or serving others.
As a child and teen, she worked alongside her parents and two sisters, Patricia and Judy on the family farm north of Levelland.
In her 20s and 30s, she raised her two sons and a daughter, working and supporting her husband on a different cotton farm. Later in life, when not taking care of her family or many friends, she volunteered at local hospitals.
Barbara loved visiting on the phone with her sisters as well as her many friends.
One of her great joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Every Christmas, she loved making divinity and pies for friends and family.
Barbara is survived and will be deeply missed by her two sons, Steve Gray and Kevan Gray and his wife Mary, her daughter, Kelly, and her husband Mike Beverly, all of Quitman, Texas; six grandchildren, Halee Gray Scott and her husband, Paul, Justin Gray and his wife, Danielle, Travis Gray, Kurt Beverly and his wife, Stephanie, Kent Beverly and his wife Meg, and Justin Noah Gray; and ten great-grandchildren, Eliana and Vivienne Scott, Colton, Parker, and Sterling Gray, and Karson, Ryker, Jack, Miles, and William Beverly.
