Ara Louise Perry of Lubbock passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the age of 84. Louise was born on January 29, 1932 in Wills Point, TX to the late James and Febbie (Killian) Wright and was the youngest of nine children.
Louise graduated from Monahans High School in 1949 and married the love of her life, Richard H. Perry, Sr. of Tatum, New Mexico in July 1951. As longtime residents of Tatum, Louise and her husband Richard were school bus contractors operating multiple routes for the Tatum Municipal School District. The family moved to Alaska in 1977 and Louise worked as the Air Freight Manager for Alaska Aeronautical Industries in Kenai, Alaska, prior to owning and operating a commercial and coin-operated laundry and dry cleaners in Kenai.
After retiring and living in Wasilla, Alaska for several years, Louise and her husband traveled the US in their RV before finally moving back home to New Mexico. They lived for a while in Las Cruses and Tatum; and eventually settled in Hobbs. After the death of her husband, Louise moved to Lubbock in 2013 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Louise’s memory include her three children; Richard Perry Jr. and wife Angie of Anchorage, AK, Vickie Byrne and husband Mike of Lubbock, Steve Perry and wife Brenda of Lovington; grandchildren, Tonya Evans of Lubbock, Ben Roddy and wife Rachael of Elbert, CO, Shawn Perry of San Antonio, TX, Rhea Perry of Lubbock and great-grandchildren, Lyndee Arenas and Charles Porsga of Lubbock and Gunnar Roddy, Levi Roddy and Tatum Roddy of Elbert, CO; and a great-great granddaughter (soon to be born), Emery Hector. Louise is also survived by numerous and dearly loved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Louise’s husband, Richard, her parents, and 8 brothers and sisters, preceded her in death.
Louise was full of life and known by all as the feisty little red-head. She loved to wear blue jeans and bright colors. For those who choose to join the family on Saturday to celebrate Louise’s life, feel free to wear denim and color!
The family is deeply grateful to BeeHive Homes of Lubbock and Accolade Hospice for the wonderful love and care provided to Louise over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Mexico Baptist Children's Home or Glad Tidings Church in Lubbock, Texas. If you have any questions in regards to donations please contact Vickie at [email protected].
