Amanda Louise Thorne, age 89, passed away on August 27, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to George and Juanita Portillo on May 19, 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband James Leslie Thorne in 1975 and four siblings, Raymond Portillo of Irving, Virginia Dunbar of Killeen, Edna Portillo of Killeen, and Norma Yeagley of Oklahoma City. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever cherished and missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister Ernestine Graves of Bakersfield, California and her three sons and their families: James L. Thorne and wife Nancy of Houston, Texas; Edward R. Thorne and wife Traci of Lubbock, Texas and Tom D. Thorne and wife Sondra of Allen, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A family graveside service/burial will be held in Lubbock on Friday, August 29,2014 at 3:30 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
