Preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Grace Marion, brother Ivan W. Marion “Skeet” Jr., sister Julie White, and brother Ted Marion. He is survived by his sisters Marjorie Miller, and Rosemary “Dee” Baker, his two children, Joshua “Josh” L. Marion (partner, Stephanie), and Esther L. Velasquez (Virgil), ex-wife Jane Marion, grandchildren Jesse and Butch Marion and numerous great-grandchildren.
Vern was born on Saturday, July 20, 1940, in Burns, Wyoming to Ivan W. and Grace D. (Gabriel) Marion; he was the eldest of six children. His family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and later to Red Feather Lakes where he spent nearly his entire life.
He married Jane L. (Hinkle) Marion on April 13, 1962. The two were married until 2019.
Vern was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and great grandpa. Vern was an honest, hardworking man, growing up during WWII and being the eldest child, he created a code all his own. He was independent, opinionated, and passionate. He never met a stranger and he loved people—all kinds of people. He was baptized in 1970 and had a deep, personal relationship with his savior Jesus Christ. Vern spent most of his life logging, including working at his father’s lumber mill. He had a connection with nature and a love of the forest and animals. He was humble and lived a simple, uncomplicated life. He loved his children and his family, and he was content.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens 8426 S College Ave, Fort Collins, Colorado, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021
