Ted "Dorian" passed away peacefully in Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado, a few months after a fall on the ice and subsequent broken hip and partial replacement. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S., and was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia.
Dorian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada—the youngest in a family of five.
He graduated from the University of Manitoba, with degrees in Science and Education, along with studies in mathematics. Dorian taught high school for a number of years before emigrating to the United States and settling at Sunrise Ranch, headquarters of Emissaries of Divine Light, in Loveland, Colorado. He remained living at Sunrise Ranch the rest of his life.
Dorian and his wife, Claudia, played significant roles in the publication of Emissary literature.
Dorian was an excellent public speaker, for years addressing university student groups and Art of Living classes. He was also in the Sunrise Ranch Choir and a Director on the Emissary Corporate Board. He was co-editor of various publications. Dorian published three books, including two of his poetry, as well as being the co-editor of several magazines. He enjoyed being a partner in the Sunrise Gift Shoppe, offering Claudia’s artwork, plus cards featuring his photography and Claudia’s art. A man of many talents, he also enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful frames for Claudia’s artwork. He composed music, played piano, was an authority on all the birds flying through the Valley, and loved to travel. And of course he was affectionately known as the King of Pun! Dorian was well read and especially loved the Bible.
Through the years he offered individual and group counseling, encouraging the development of a higher consciousness and a true effectiveness in the art of living.
Dorian will be greatly missed by his family, friends around the world, and all at Sunrise Ranch.
A Memorial Service was held at Sunrise Ranch, in Loveland, Colorado, on April 15, 2023. A Reception immediately followed the service. Thank you to all that were able to attend in person and via Zoom.
We are grateful to Allnutt Funeral Home for their services.
