Margie A. Krause Walker, 94, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Westlake Lodge Health Center in Greeley, Colorado. Born on November 7, 1930 in Alliance, Nebraska she was the daughter of the late John Frank and Freda Cecilia (Cruise) Krause. Margie graduated from Alliance High School and then graduated from Parks Business College in Denver.
When she first met Howard “Bubs” Eugene Walker she did not encourage his attention. But he finally convinced her of his good qualities and they married on September 11, 1949. They were married for over 30 years, until his passing on March 1, 1980.
On a farm 13 miles north of Alliance, Margie toiled long hours as a wife, mother and homemaker. She made huge meals for harvest workers and sang in the Methodist Church choir. Margie and Bubs were members of the Elks, Eagles and the Legion. She served as an officer in the Eagles Auxiliary and participated by making candy for the Easter Monday card parties and always did a skit for the annual talent show. She also enjoyed bowling in a league.
In the fall of 1964, she and her family moved to Fort Collins and leased the gas station at the corner of College and Harmony. During this time, Margie also worked at Eakers Department store. In 1966 they moved to Windsor and took over the Gambles Hardware store also selling furniture and appliances. Margie had a little gift shop in the front where she enjoyed visiting with local members of the community. She served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, sang in the church choir and belonged to a bridge group. She really enjoyed playing bridge into her later years.
Margie was an excellent cook and baker. Making meals was her love language and she always enjoyed trying new recipes with guests. At Christmas, Margie enjoyed making 18 different types of candies and cookies, with her daughters, to give out to friends as gifts. She took 2nd place in the Bolder Boulder in her age division at the age of 76 and put on roller skates at the age of 80 and took a few laps around the rink.
After Bubs died, she married Donald Enright on August 20, 1986 and moved to Green Valley, Arizona in June 1993 where they sold real estate as a team and made some great friends. They were married for over 20 years, until his passing on April 11, 2007. When Margie lived in Green Valley, she enjoyed attending estate sales and making bird houses and clay mirrors between taking her grandchildren to various attractions when they visited.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Margie was predeceased by her son Terry J. Walker, her brother Jack J. Krause and his wife, Phyllis, and her sister-in-law Betty (Kenny) Tittel.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Stroman of Loveland and Robyn Waterman (Rick) of Greeley. Grandchildren: Shilo Stroman of CO, Castara (Mike) Easter of CA, Chad (Elizabeth) Walker, Tara Jo (Eric) Bernhardt, Jessica (Christopher Johnston) Morgan and Casey Morgan (all of CO). Great-grandchildren: Dillon Bernhardt, Bradley and Kinsley Walker, Kadin, Ashton and Aislyn Easter and Mavrick, Irelynn and Ember Johnston. Also, four step-children, numerous step-grandchildren, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Margie’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at Allnutt Funeral Service-Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland. A reception will follow.
