February 1, 1950 - July 6, 2023
Eric (Ric) passed away peacefully at his home in Loveland, CO on July 6 after battling with a long term illness.
He was born in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1950 to parents Eric G. and Maud deNeve. They immigrated to the United States by boat in 1951 soon after Indonesia achieved independence from the Dutch. Along with sister Mirja and brother Paul, they lived in many states, including Mississippi, Kentucky, Colorado (where they became U.S. citizens), Georgia and Texas. From 1958-1961 the family lived in Kabul, Afghanistan, where they had many adventures and travels.
In 1965 they settled in Arlington, Texas where he graduated from Arlington High School in 1968. He went on to Texas A&M University and received a degree in Environmental Design 1972. A few months later, he was drafted by the Army, and, after training, served with the Army Security Agency in West Berlin. He and Jan married on December 27, 1972, and were able to travel many places in Europe.
After three years in the Army, he went back to Texas A&M and got his Master of Architecture. He and Jan settled in Dallas, Texas, where daughters Erin and Andrea were born. They later moved to New Jersey and to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they lived for 20 years. After retiring, he and Jan moved to the foothills of Colorado where he was able to design and build their home.
Eric had a strong faith in Jesus and was always active in his church. He made eight mission trips to Zambia, loving, teaching and serving the people there. He was exceptionally creative and talented and loved gardening, photography and wood carving.
He is survived by wife Jan, daughter Erin (husband Christian Greenhill and son Eli) and daughter Andrea (partner Henry Wells and son Darsey) and his sister Mary deNeve.
A memorial service will be held July 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 3850 Ziegler Road, Fort Collins, CO.
