Elizabeth “Betty” Joyce Oister was born in Andover, NY on February 12, 1928. She was the daughter of William and Harriet Joyce and raised with four sisters, Lucille, Virginia, Kathryn, and Teresa, on a farm and grew up understanding the value of hard work.
She was married to her beloved husband, the late Charles R. Oister, for 51 years.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel and his wife Kathy, and Michael and wife Melinda. She was a proud and active grandmother of six grandchildren: Callie, Sari, Christie, Marni, Michael Charles, and Jeffrey. She also had the love and affection of 10 nieces and nephews.
Betty worked as a secretary at Eastman Kodak for 12 years and volunteered for the Cancer Society and for many educational programs for decades.
Betty had many dear friends and was a woman of strong character, true to herself and others at all times. She was intelligent, quick-witted and loyal. She was a woman of strong faith and incredible physical and mental toughness. Given two years to live with congestive heart failure, in 1990, after twice beating cancer, she managed to experience 33 more years of quality life well worth living.
And, we are all very thankful for a great Wife, Mom, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and Friend.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Betty at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland, Colorado on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 at 10:00am. Following the service, Betty will be laid to eternal rest at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado.
