Doris was born on April 21, 1932 to Mary Ruth Lindsey and William D. Hopkins in Indianapolis, Indiana.
After graduating from Indiana Beauty School, Doris owned and operated her home beauty shop.
On May 4, 1974 Doris married Meredith L. Scott. They lived in Indianapolis, Indiana until 1979 when they relocated to Loveland, Colorado. They purchased and became proprietors of Loveland Bowling Alley.
Doris spent her time with her family. Her family was of great value to her. Her grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved to travel, work puzzles, crochet and prepare jellies. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation.
Doris was predeceased by her mother Mary Ruth Lindsey, father William D. Hopkins and spouse Meredith L. Scott. She is survived by her son Anthony D. Dawson (Johnnie), daughter Terry L. Sims, daughter Mary K. Faron, stepdaughter Sandy Scott (Dennis), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service – Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, Colorado, on May 8, 2024 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. We will then go to Resthaven Memorial Gardens for inurnment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be mailed to 1940 Pavilion Dr., Whitsett, NC 27377.
