Burnice was born on March 8, 1938 in Hickman Co. Kentucky to William H. Procknaw and Pauline E. (Woodard) Procknaw. Burnice grew up in Turrell, Arkansas and graduated from Turrell High School in 1956. She went on to attend Southern Baptist College of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and completed her Bachelor of Science degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Burnice was a long-time elementary school teacher and reading specialist in the state of Oklahoma and North Carolina. While teaching at J. Glenn Edwards Elementary in Sanford, North Carolina, she was awarded the 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year. One of her greatest passions was teaching children to read. She retired from the North Carolina Public School System at the age of 73 in 2012.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Wayne White on January 23, 1959. They were blessed with 2 children, Paula Annette and Terry Alan. Burnice was active within the church participating in prison ministries and numerous bible studies. Her love of the Lord was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by a son Terry White and wife Cindy of Sanford, North Carolina and daughter Paula Biffle and husband David of Loveland, Colorado. One brother, Burleigh Procknaw of West Memphis, Arkansas. Two grandchildren, Justin Biffle of Loveland, Colorado and Jason Biffle of Midland, Texas and 2 great-great grandchildren plus a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents and 2 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pathways Hospice and Palliative Care of Fort Collins, Colorado.
