Bea was born in Arendtsville, Pennsylvania to the late Herman and Hazel Dehoff. Bea attended Biglerville High School, and after graduation in 1952, worked in Gettysburg until she and Charles (Bob) Sanders were married. During their life together they lived in many places across the United States, and in 1971 were able to travel to Europe.
Bea occasionally over the years worked at department stores but mostly was a housewife. She didn’t work full-time until 1975 when she and Bob purchased the Horsetooth Inn at the south end of Horsetooth Reservoir above Fort Collins, Colorado. They owned and worked daily at that business until they retired in 1993. Bea enjoyed the time they had the bar and getting to know several locals that became regulars.
Retirement led them to Loveland, Colorado where Bea loved to attend water aerobics at the Chilson Center and made several friends from that group. Bea also took painting classes for several years. She was very proud of the work she did and even sold some pieces over the years at craft shows.
She loved to travel, often back to Pennsylvania to visit family and of course to enjoy a family favorite; Ernie’s Texas Hot Lunch hotdogs!
Bea was preceded in death by her husband Bob Sanders. She is survived by her brother Burnell Dehoff and wife Martha (Gettysburg, PA), her daughter Debra Alexander and husband Jon (Severance, CO), her son Douglas Sanders and wife Cathryn (Loveland, CO), 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A small celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Allnutt Funeral Service, Hunter Chapel with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Bea’s family would appreciate memorial donations to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.allnuttloveland.com for the Sanders family.
