William David Wheatley, 89, left us to go to heaven on Thursday, April 14, 2016. He was meet at the Pearly Gates by the love of his life, his wife, Velma. Also there to welcome him was his son, Eugene, his parents, John William and Edna Ellis Wheatley, his brother John K. and his wife Betty. David was a retired ironworker with Whalen Steel Erectors. He was a 60 plus years member of Ironworkers Local #70 and the International Assoc. of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironwokers. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, was a Catholic a former member of St. Clements Seniors Club. He leaves behind to cherish their memories of a wonderful life with a great Dad, three sons and spouses: Charlie and Erny Rosenbaum of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Tim and Nan, Lynn and Kathy Wheatley. His three daughters and spouses, Kathy and Rick Hall, Linda and Tim Bruederle, Dee Dee and Larry Jones. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Hosparus for their care at home and in their facility. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 18 at W.G. Hardy Funeral Home and Cremation Service with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to his favority Charity “The Smile Train”, Hosparus of Louisville or charity of your choice.
