William Ray Taylor age 73 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 20th, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was born June 20, 1949 in Louisville, KY, the son of Dallard and Beatrice Taylor.
He served our country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, leaving as a Sergeant with an honorable discharge. Throughout the years he worked with his father and brother as a painter and later started his own residential and commercial painting business. He then became a driver for many years but eventually retired as a dispatcher from Tyme-It Transportation.
In 1984 he married the love of his life Debbie. They would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on May 25th, 2023.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Dallard and Beatrice Taylor, his granddaughter Mandy McIntosh, brothers Gene & Roger Taylor, and sister Anna Despain.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Debbie; his daughters Billi Sue (Don) Stallings, Shannon Alexander, Kelly (Kevin) Putty; his sons Tony and Jason Knott. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren his beloved sisters Sheri Seay and Debbie Armes; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a simple, generous and loving man who always put family first. He was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and loved to banter with his great-grandson Kaden who gave it right back as a Louisville Cardinal fan.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at Evergreen Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Putty officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 10 am Wednesday until the time of the service. Those serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons; Jake Hartley, Blake Summitt, Aaron and Austin Putty, Kaden McIntosh, Dylan Sheehan and Cambren Terry.
