William Gerald Payne Sr.

William G. Payne, Sr, 77, of Louisville, passed away on December 26th with his loving family by his side at Norton Hospice Pavilion. He was a retiree from General Electric, a member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church where he sang in the choir; a huge U of L fan, and a good cook. Jerry loved to play cards, bowl, gamble a little and travel. But most of all he was a family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Nettie Payne, and a son, Edwin DeMon "Moonie" Payne.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Johnetta Bonner Payne; children, William G. Jr. and Kevin M. Payne and Beverly A. Dunston; step-children, Brigette Hayley, Rocquael Pickett, and Erik Pickett Sr. ; brothers, William Vincent, Autholia, and Albert B. Payne; sisters, Julia Cross and Lounette Payne. 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, at 10 a.m. on January 3, 2015 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 1816 Rangeland Road, Louisville, KY 40219. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park.
