He was born September 22, 1950 in Nashville, TN the son of the late Earl Walter Latta Jr. and Barbara Irene (Stinnett) Latta. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa J. Latta.
William enlisted in the United States Army and served our country for many years. He was awarded the Solider's Medal, Purple Heart recipient, numerous Air Medals and rose to the rank of Sergeant Major before retiring.
Survivors include his son, Michael E. Latta, TSGT USAF (Ret.) and his wife Evelyn, Grandchildren Mari-Lynn (Latta) Wilson, Mckelvy A. Latta, Makenzie L. Latta, Great-Grandson Atticus J. Wilson, His Brother Steven E. Latta USA (Ret), and Nieces and Nephew Shawn Latta, Nikki Latta, Matthew Latta, and Beth Latta
