Bill was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Bowling Green, KY. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed spending time on the water with his family and friends. He loved his country music and enjoyed spending some time at the penny slot machines. Bill was always full of stories and laughter; he was a light that will be missed.
Bill was a former volunteer firefighter with Black Mudd Fire Department. Bill’s work ethic was second to none, and in 2002 he retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Gertrude and Sidney Gayle Landers, his sister Gayle Blackaby, infant son Lonnie Ray and infant daughter Mary Ann,and his stepdaughter Janet Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Landers, his sisters Sue Taylor and Linda Mattingly (Jim), his son William S Landers Jr. (Becky), and stepson Kevin Harley (Tracy). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jessica Hay (Eric), Taylor Brown (Courtney), Trevor Brown, Rebekah Craven (Mark), Miranda Harley, Sarah Bardolf, Justin Landers, and Katelyn Bardolf as well as six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Services are as follows at Arch L. Heady, Resthaven. Visitation is Friday November 10, family from 3-4 eastern time with public visitation from 4-7 eastern time. Saturday visitation from 10-11 eastern time with services to follow at 11:00 am eastern time with Father John Thomas officiating with interment at Resthaven Cemetery.
