Mr. Green was a native of Eastville, VA, graduated from West Virginia University, was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and served our country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne Division. He was the Vice President of Liquid Sales and retired from American Commercial Barge Lines. Mr. Green loved to play bridge and was an avid sportsman and historian. He also volunteered his support to Meals on Wheels and the Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth R. Green; son, Colonel (Retired) William V. Green, IV (Kris); daughter, Lynn Lewis; and by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church located at 311 Browns Lane. Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
