Dr. Walter L. "Pete" Johnson

He was a practicing orthodontist in Louisville for the last 42 years.

Born March 2, 1933, to William Otto and Sylvia Higdon Johnson, he graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1955, University of Louisville Dental School in 1960, and the orthodontic program at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York, in 1968. He was a lifetime member of the American Association of Orthodontists, a lifetime member of the American Dental Association, a member of the Southern Society of Orthodontists, a member of the Kentucky Orthodontic Association, a member of Beta Delta Honorary Dental Fraternity, and a graduate fellow of the Omicron Chapter of the Psi Omega Fraternity. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. William A. Johnson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sally S. Johnson. His daughters, Karen (Doug) Robards and Lee (Sammy) Spicer. His sons, Tod L. Johnson, Bruce H. Johnson, and Brad H. Johnson. His granddaughters, Samantha and Catherine Spicer. His grandsons, Peter, Christopher, and Jack Robards, Bradley, Blake, Chase and Hunter Johnson, Austin and Trevor Johnson, and Jason Wearren. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Gottenbusch, of Florence, and brother, James A. Johnson, of Lawrenceburg.

Funeral services will be held at twelve noon on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, from 4-8 p.m.
