Viola Risinger King, 97, of Louisville passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Baptist Health Louisville. She was born on August 7,1917 in Ghrons, Kentucky to the late Charles and Mamie Short Risinger. Viola was a member of Buechel Park Baptist Church and graduated from Louisville Girls High School. She was a kind, gentle woman, who was devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. King; a son, Edwin L. King II; a grandson, Brian Grother; and a brother, Elmer Risinger.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Carole King and Sandy Pate (Frank); two grandsons, Alan Grother (Sheri) and Jeff Pate (Rita); three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Harrison and Riley Pate; as well as three sisters, Lillian Decker (Dave), Dolores George, and Brenda Brast (Calvin).
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 2pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11-2 on Sunday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
