She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 14, 1930 to Andrew and Dora Boehnlein. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Bardstown, Kentucky. She belonged to the VFW #3852 Ladies Auxiliary. She was the former owner of the Fisherman’s Restaurant at Rough River. Vernice had a passion for knowledge and was a lifelong learner. She loved all types of music, flowers and children. She loved trying new things and traveling. She was the family historian and loved passing on stories.
She is preceded in death by her husband, of 61 years, George W. Nalley; her Parents; Sisters: Anna Marie Matthews, Tulula Spalding, Jeanette Boehnlein, and Dora Martha Schardein; Brothers: Charles Boehnlein, Earl Boehnlein, and Robert Boehnlein.
Vernice is survived by her loving dog Lily, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her lifelong childhood friend, Dorothy Hinton Ciresi.
Vernice spent her final years with her niece and her husband, Cheryl and Henry White.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023, and then again from 1:00 pm until the Funeral Hour on April 30, 2023 also at the Evergreen Funeral Home. Vernice will be laid to rest in the Lily Garden of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums.
