He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist church where he taught Sunday school for 13 years. He was an accomplished State Farm Agent for 39 and a half years and an Air Force veteran.
Thomas is preceded in death by his siblings, Alberta and Dan Jones, Irene and Otto Curry, George and Ardith Nelson, Lillian McIntyree, and James and Irene Nelson.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Kaye Harris (Howard) and Kimberly Ann Nelson, a brother, Charles Ray Nelson; grandchildren, Jaime and Justin Harris, Zachary Nelson-Yurt and Mackenzy Nelson-Meibers; great-grand daughter, Hannah Harris. He is also survived by his former wife, mother of his children; Joyce Ann Nelson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday October 19, 2011 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Road with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 3-8 p.m.
