Thelma Benson

Thelma Bowling Benson returned to the arms of our heavenly Father on June 6, 2020. She was born on December 23, 1931 in Manchester, Kentucky. Thelma lived her life supporting her family and others serving as an active member of the PTA in her children’s schools as room mother, field trip chaperone, and Dupont Manual High School Booster Club volunteer. She was team mother many years to her sons’ little league teams at the Beechmont Youth Baseball organization. There was no bigger University of Kentucky fan than Thelma who entertained her family and friends in her UK-themed family room. She loved gardening and spent many hours landscaping her yard. Thelma was a loyal employee of GE Appliance Park from 1972-2000 where she made many friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her father, Isom Bowling, her mother Pearl Langdon Bowling, and her sister Barbara “Bobbie” Goodin. Left to cherish her memory are her four children Charles “Chuck” Benson (Sandi), Sherry Todd (Steve), Kevin Benson, and Gary Benson; her grandchildren Kristie Kane (Patrick), Matthew Benson (Karen) Carter Todd, Aaron Todd, Kendall Benson (Robert), Charles (Wally) Benson; her great grandchildren Morgan Higdon, Mason Kane, Taylor Todd, Kenny Frick, Cowen Hasting, and Keith Benton; her brother-in law Carl Goodin, Sr., nephew Dr. Carl Goodin and niece Jennifer Neal (Greg).

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 12:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.
