Sylvia B. Lyda Carter

Sylvia B. Lyda Carter, 75, of Louisville, passed away October 13, 2023 in her daughter's loving hands. She was a lifetime servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sylvia touched so many people over the years and always had a positive impact on their lives. She always put others first and would do anything to help her family and friends. She was a true inspiration to everyone she knew. Family and Church were the most important aspects of her life which she lived to the fullest. She was a retiree of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a member of Beechland Baptist Church where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher, and a Girl Scout troop leader for over 15 years.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille Boehnlein; sister, Bettye Fogg; and her husband, William P. Lyda. She is survived by her husband, James Carter; children, Rhonda Lyda-Burke(John), Brittany Carter, and Lorraine Melton; grandchildren, William, Conner, Aiden, Dallon, Cambron, Taylor, Carter, Selena, and A.J.; great-grandchildren, Dahlia and Araceli; brothers, Charles Boehnlein Sr.(Mary), Mike Boehnlein(Donna), and Jerry Boehnlein(Theresa); and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Evergreen Funeral Home with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery. Visitation will be 1pm-7pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Sylvia's memory can be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
