Sue Carol Woods, age 84 of Louisville, KY passed away on February 10, 2022. Born to the late Louise Neal Brown and Marvin V. Brown, Sue is also preceded in passing by her husband of 65 years, Howard Woods.
Here to carry on her memory is her three children; Karen Chasteen, Dennis Woods (Brenda), and Laurie Woods; grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, Katie (Ross), Joshua, and Matthew (Gabrielle), great-grandchildren; Meredith, Taylor (Nick), Daniel Howard, Tucker, Logan , Priscilla and Remington, brother, James E. Brown, and a host of extended family and friends.
Sue graduated as a Salutatorian from Theodore Ahrens Trade High School and was inducted into Quill and Scroll. In 1956 she married, became a stay at home mom. Sue was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church for many years, teaching Sunday School. After the children were grown, she joined the work force, secured a position at Louisville Naval Ordinance Station, then moved to a position with the IRS for a short time before acquiring her position in the Defense Mapping Agency from which she retired from in 1999.
Sue was the epitome of what a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother should be. She taught us all how to be good care-takers, givers, and showed us to be submissive to man if he deserves it. You never went to her house without being fed or watching a classic movie, if someone needed a gift or a card, she always had extras tucked away in the house. She loved her trips to Cracker Barrel and Walmart and only God knows how much she loved her husband and family. Pop was the outgoing one, always taking attention and cracking jokes; while grandma would be behind the scenes cooking, cleaning, and most likely yelling at him to shut up.
Their marriage and life are pure goals, and we’re all so lucky to have come from them. I hope they are giving each other hugs and kisses and getting ready to celebrate their 66th Valentine’s Day as angels.
