Stephen was born and raised in Louisville to Robert K. and Mary Carmel Silliman.
He was a 1965 graduate of Flaget High School and he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War, serving as a Corporal in the USMC.
Stephen served as the Business Manager and Financial Secretary for the Electrical Workers Union #369. He was a member of the VFW Shawnee Post #3204 and the Rod and Gun Club.
As an avid sportsman and fisherman, Stephen has been enjoying retirement with his best friend and wife Charlotte, since 2007.
Stephen is preceded in death by his father, Robert K. Silliman; and two sisters, Cheryl and Mary Jane "Mitzi" Silliman.
Stephen leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Charlotte Strange Silliman; devoted children, Jackie Dowell (Rusty), Stephanie Richardson, and Benjamin Silliman (Paula); ten adoring grandchildren, Julia, Zoe, Charlotte, Olivia, Ruby, Penelope, Moses, Louis Stephen, Sam, and Emily; mother, Mary Carmel Silliman; brothers, Mark, Chris (Joan), Bert, Joe (Joanie) Silliman; sister, Carmel Silliman (Stanley); sister-in-law, Cheryl Hildebrand; as well as many other cherished sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Highway at 10am on Monday, October 3, 2011, with interment to follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington.
Visitation for the public will be from 1-8pm on Saturday and from 10am-8pm on Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway.
There will be a celebration of Stephen's life after the graveside service on Monday at the IBEW Local 369 Union Hall, 4315 Preston Highway.
