Stephen Guy “Steve” Bryant, 70, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born September 10, 1946 in Louisville to the late James and Catherine Olinick Bryant. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy and Ned Bryant and his granddaughter, JulieAnn Hamilton. Steve was a US Navy veteran, serving during Vietnam as radioman on the USS Constellation, a member of St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, and a long-time and dedicated employee at Arch L. Heady and Son. He took care of anyone who needed and was a man of many traits, including fishing, playing guitar, singing, taxidermy, refinishing furniture, collecting old movies and music, coaching at St. Simon and Jude, enjoying a cold beer, and cooking and grilling out. He was also an avid UK fan and would appreciate guests at his services to join the family in wearing UK or blue attire. His favorite saying was “When you got it, you got it, and you never lose it!”
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Robben Bryant, daughters, Becky (Michael “Pat”) Hamilton, Stephanie Bryant, Aubrey Bryant, and Amy (Ben) Bryant, grandchildren, Emily and Kylie Hamilton and Atticus Mason, siblings, Mike Bryant, Cathy Montgomery, and Angie Lowe, several grand-dogs, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends he cared for.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday with a celebration of his life following from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home Southern, 3601 Taylor Blvd.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Jewish and St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospitals for their care and patience during his illness.
