Stan Sr, Husband, Daddy, Dear Sweet Papa, Great Papa, Stan The Man, Mr Fix-It, too many names to list. This man is a legend. If you were lucky enough to know him, you automatically loved
him.
Stan grew up in Germantown where he met the love of his life, JoAnn (Beha). They were married for 69 years. Some people say she is a saint!
They have 5 grateful children; Karen, Lisa (Tim Desmond), Judy (Bob Auxier), Doug (Kissie), Stan (Jan). They are blessed with 9 grandchildren; Katey, Emily, Sean, Taylor, Cody, John, Christopher (Buddy), Christy, and Michael . Rounding out the family with 5 great grandchildren; Evelyn, Reagan, Jaxon, Maddox & Dawson.
As a young man, with cigarettes rolled up in his sleeve, he carried roofing shingles for his Dad’s roofing company. His Dad would take him out of high school at lunchtime to have him carry shingles up and down the ladder while older family members worked on the roof. He was young so he had the hard part.
He told us how he would take a “beer bucket” for his dad and run to the local bar to have it filled up and run it back…knowing he better not spill any.
Stan was recruited for military duty, but thank the Good Lord, JoAnn was pregnant. The big Sergeant on the bus asked him if his wife was expecting and when Stan said yes, the Sergeant grabbed Daddy by the collar and threw him off the bus!
He was proud to be a member of The Kentucky Colonels for many years. He worked 10 years for Hettinger & Schuck. And then he became a dedicated United States Post Office for 42 years! At USPS he was a member of The Million Mile Club. Stan also received many Safe Driving Awards throughout his career. He made a lot of friends and a lot of connections because of his fun loving personality.
JoAnn is Catholic and became a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Church where all 5 children attended. Stan was at church every weekend with them. He always volunteered and worked so hard to help make our Parish and School a happy, successful community.
Stan was an amazing baseball player before he got married and knew the game inside and out. At Germantown he was called “Coach Stan” and “Grandpa” to so many ball players. Stan and JoAnn both dedicated over 30 years to help develop Germantown Baseball Inc. Blood, sweat and tears went into
everything they did. This is where Stan’s personality would shine. His connections were friends that Stan would talk into donating services, goods, time and money to help Germantown become a
safe place to keep kids out of trouble and give them something fun to “Develop Character thru Sports”. And is was. All of the Germantown families loved him. He had so many people love him but he couldn’t remember all of their names so he called the boys by “Buck” and the girls “Peanut”. He also used names like “Meathead, Bubbahead, Bubba Sue and Pinhead". If he called you any of these, know that he loved you. JoAnn, a quiet loving Wife and Momma always worked hard, but since she’s quieter, she was known at times as “Stan’s Wife”. She would sometimes complain but think secretly she was proud. We all are proud.
