He was a Navy veteran and retired from General Electric.
Mr. Gartland was preceded in rest by his wife, Anna; a son, Gerard; and two sisters, Betty Schlaefer and Mary Ann Greenwell.
He is survived by his children, Denny (Michelle), Dean, Dorinda (Eric), Dan (Helen), Deanna (Bill), Doreen (David), David (Renea), Dale (Sherrie), Dwayne (Tomie) and Darvin; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Paul, Keith and Frank Gartland.
His funeral mass will be on Monday at 11am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road, with interment following in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1pm until 8pm and on Monday after 9am.
