Starks, Sherri McDowell, 42 of Louisville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Sherri was originally from Bonnieville, KY and moved to Louisville in 1993 to attend the University of Louisville. Soon after entering the University, she pledged Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Pi Alpha chapter and remained an active member throughout her life serving as Chapter President, Vice President Administration, and Vice President Educator. Sherri graduated in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in political science with a minor in the Spanish language. Following graduation, she continued to serve as an advisor to the collegiate chapter and serve on the corporation board for the sorority. During her freshman year, she met the love of her life and future husband, Christopher Starks. Being married since 2003, their union produced two beautiful children, Ayla and Landon. Sherri was both a loving and devoted wife and mother. She cherished her children, even serving as Team Cheerleading Mom. Still, Sherri valued education and had a passion to help others. She returned to school and became a registered nurse and her ambition ultimately led her to earn a Master's degree in Nursing. She went on to work in her dream career of being a Nurse Practitioner.
Sherri lived a full and vivacious life. She ran marathons, loved "Biggie", and enjoyed traveling to places as far away as Ireland; but most of all, she will be remembered for her loving kindness, generosity, nurturing soul, and heartfelt compassion.
Left to cherish Sherri's memory is her loving husband, Christopher Starks; 2 children, Ayla Starks and Landon Starks; mother, Peggy Hilton (Jack); father, Lonnie McDowell; sister, Belinda Phillips (Chris); 2 nieces; 1 nephew; maternal grandmother, Louise Madden. Sherri had 2 maternal uncles (and their wives); 1 aunt and her husband; 8 cousins (and their spouses); 1 paternal aunt and 3 cousins.
Sherri was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Carl and Frances McDowell from Bonnieville, KY; maternal grandfather, Reverend James Madden; maternal great grandparents, Tom and Vietula Melone; and maternal aunt, Nancy Knight.
