Sherri Brewer

Sharon Jean Poynter Brewer, known to many as “Jeanie” and family as “Sherri,” passed away on Wednesday, March 17th at her home. She was born in Louisville as the only child of Lola Rutledge Poynter and Ollie B. Poynter. Sherri married John Edward Brewer Jr. in Aug. of 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Sherri was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She worked as an elementary teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools for 32 years. Her roles as Mom and Memaw were her favorites. She enjoyed Zoe, her dog, being with her family, fishing, quilting, and was an avid reader. She loved watching sports and was a huge Cardinal fan. Sherri lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling. Even in her last weeks, she was telling stories and making sure that we would not share her age.

Mrs. Brewer is survived by her sons, John Edward Brewer III (Liz) of Bowling Green and Timothy Kirk Brewer of Louisville; four grandchildren, John Edward Brewer IV of Bowling Green; Evan Gregory Brewer (Jamie) of LaGrange; Jordon Nicole Brewer of Cincinnati; and Elizabeth Danielle “Elle” Brewer Jenkins (Spencer) of Bowling Green; and seven great grandchildren, Briley Ann Brewer, Bailey Faye Brewer, John Edward Brewer V (JB), Piper Jean Brewer, Lola Elizabeth Jenkins, Oliver Christian Jenkins, and Josie Mae Brewer. She is also survived by many cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 27th at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Resthaven in Louisville. Visitation will be that morning from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Resthaven.
