Shelby B. Higgs, 89, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013.
He was a retired truck driver and mechanic for the old Valley Truck Rentals. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and enjoyed boating and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Roger Hiser and a step-daughter, Anita Peach.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rosie Spears Higgs; a son, Raymond Higgs (Nancy); a daughter, Agnes Moore (Phil); step-daughters Shelia Hill (David) and Sharon Edmondson (Dennis); step-son, Mike Hiser; sister, Cora Leitchell; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Home of the Innocents.
