She was born September 11, 1942 in Logansport, IN, the daughter of the late Everett William and Mildred Mae Segraves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ron Pittenger and one brother, Larry Segraves.
Sharon was a kindergarten and first grade teacher for over 50 years, having taught at Collegiate, Goshen, and Goshen Elementary School at Hillcrest. She was also a member of St. John United Methodist Church.
Sharon was an avid reader, loved playing Bridge and Euchre, and loved gardening. Growing up Sharon was involved in 4H, and later in college was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Most importantly, Sharon loved her family especially her beautiful grandchildren, her “darlin” friends, and her faith. She was known to all as “Mrs. P” and her smile and laugh were contagious.
Survivors include her children, Stephanie Pieroni (Andy) and Scott Tincher (Kristen); step-children, Jeff Pittenger (Leslie) and Jennifer Mattingly (Dennis); grandchildren, Madelyne, William, Hadley, Amelia, Brandon, Blake, Zachary, Garrett, and Michael; one brother, Doug Segraves (Debbie); nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Bethany, David, Gregg, Jody, Steve and Tonya; and sisters-in-law, Judy Segraves, Nancy Wallace, and Judy Voll.
A service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. John United Methodist Church, 12700 W. Hwy 42, Prospect, KY 40059. Visitation will be at St. John United Methodist Church from 12-8 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2016 and also from 10AM until the time of the service on Friday. Following the funeral, interment will be at Floydsburg Cemetery 5600 Old Floydsburg Rd. Crestwood, Kentucky 40014.
