Sharon Tonia Heavener of Corydon, Ind. was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 21, 2022. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and legendary baker.
A true patriot, Sharon was born on July 4th in New Albany, Ind. in 1934 to Raymond and Mildred “Mimi” Shirley. She spent most of her life in Louisville, Ky. with her husband Leonard. Together, they were blessed with four children and 47 years of marriage.
Bill Boland’s Fine Dining would not have been the same without Sharon’s expertise behind the kitchen walls, where she perfected desserts for every occasion and award-winning cheesecakes. Sharon was a permanent fixture in the kitchen at The Forum at Brookside, where she prepared meals for residents for many years. After retiring, she was a greeter at Mcdonalds in St. Matthews, where she gained countless friendships over her 12 years there.
When Sharon wasn’t on the clock, she could be found with cards in her hands, taking on anyone brave enough to play against the Queen of Cards. The only thing that topped her Canasta skills was the magic she created in the kitchen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Heavener; her parents, Raymond C. and Mildred F. (Hubler) Shirley; her brothers, Stephan Kent Shirley, Raymond “Jack” Shirley, and Ronald “Brent” Shirley; and her grandson, Jared Heavener.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her four children, David (Shanita) Heavener, Vicki (Stephen) Reilly, Cheryl Barbati, and Kelley Heavener; her 12 grandchildren, Benjamin (Kaitlynn) Loy, Brittany Reilly, Jacob Jackson, Jessi (Paul) Costel, Trent (Natalie) Reilly, Davita (Tosh) Taylor, Libertie (Aaron) Villalpando, Brent Heavener, Adena (Kendrick) Dueck, Harmonie Heavener, Jaleb Chadwell, and Abraham Heavener; and her eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Sharon will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Ky 40222. The service to honor the life of Sharon will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Sharon will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
