Samuel Nelson Jr.

Samuel Louis Nelson, Jr., returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 with his loving parents by his side. Samuel was born in Louisville on September 12, 2017 to Samuel Nelson, Sr. and Courtney Ogletree. He is preceded in death by his aunt, Kasia Minnick.

Samuel had a spirit that was undeniable and captivating to anyone that had the blessing to know him. He loved to swim around in water, to laugh, dance and also play on his iPad. He loved to listen to music and always had the moves and vibes for a good beat. One of his favorite things to do was cheer on his siblings at their sporting events.

Samuel leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Samuel Louis Nelson, Sr. and Courtney Ogletree; sister, Rayna Nelson; brother, Khail Ogletree; grandparents, David and Dorothy Nelson and Robert and Penny Bannon; aunts and uncles, Renee Curry (Leon), Martin Harris, David Nelson (Alexis), Charity Morris (Gary), Ola Francois (Tyson) and KyAnne Shedron (Travis); and a host of cousins, extended family and many friends.

A special Thank You to the dedicated medical staff that helped care for Samuel at Norton Children's Hospital, including the PICU Department on the 4th floor, the entire multi-disciplinary medical team that included Neurology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Nutrition and Pediatrics (among many others). Also, the therapy team at Associates in Pediatric Therapy (APT) for dedicating many compassionate years to Samuel’s therapeutic needs.

Celebration of life will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Tuesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home.
