Ruth Elizabeth Stacy Brown will be remembered as a strong, compassionate, generous woman with a fierce love of the Lord and an equal love for her family. She peacefully transition out of this life into the next on December 28, 2023.
She gave her three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren the space, independence and support to become whatever they put their minds to.
Ruth will be remembered as an intelligent business woman, a faithful church goer, a patient and proud grandmother cheering her family on, a lover of Chinese food and a sneaky farm girl that shirked her duties so she could go hide in the corn and read a book. If you asked her, she was not a dog lover but had a sweet relationship with Roxie, Zara, Vader, Apollo, Layla and Koda. The pups were always welcome in her bed. She had a radiant smile and loved the Louisville Cardinals.
Ruth was the youngest of seven children born to John and Effie Creasy Stacy. Ok, maybe she wasn't the youngest, but she always insisted she was. Ruth was also quite witty. She grew up on the family farm in Girdler, KY. She moved to Louisville after graduation and met Roy C. Brown. They married in 1957. She was the beloved mother of Roy Jr. (Dayle), Scott (Teri) and Lisa (Dale). Ruth was the best, most corruptive grandmother and junk food supplier to Melissa (Paul), Jean (Brianna), Stacy (Denzel), Boston and Declan (Abby). She was the sweetest great-grandmother to Ethan and Andrew. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
She impacted the lives of everyone she met and always left a wondrous impression.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 11 am on Wednesday January 3, 2024 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will from 3-8 pm on Tuesday.
The Brown family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Hosparus Health staff for their gentle and compassionate care. Memorial gifts in Ruth’s memory may be made to Hosparus Of Louisville.
