He was a native of Sampson Co., N.C. and retired from the
U.S. Army and U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Josephine M. Hill “Mama Jo”, two daughters,
Alice R. Hill-Murrell (Anthony) , Gwendolyn D. Atkinson-Sample (Ivan), sister, Brenda Smith (Montez),
Aunt, Ernestine Monds- Smith (Joseph), thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren,
two sister- in- laws, Mae Lois Hill, Catherine M. Moore , brother - in-law, William “Bill” James and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at W.G. Hardy Funeral Home and Cremation Service with burial in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery in Radcliff, Ky. , on Monday September 14, 2015.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.
